PSA: Do NOT save your favourite makeup!
As you all know if you follow me on Instagram I had two eyeshadow palettes expire on me last week. Out of nowhere, my favourite eyeshadow palette (Urban Decay's Full Spectrum palette) started smelling like garbage and I had to throw most of it away. The next day I went through my entire collection and realized another palette of mine had given up (Lime Crime's Pocket Candy in Pink Lemonade). I decluttered a total of 17 eyeshadow pans in three days. It was heartbreaking, but I learnt my lesson; DO NOT SAVE YOUR FAVOURITE MAKEUP!
You might be tempted to save that beautiful new eyeshadow palette for special occasions because you love it so much, but for the love of any and all higher powers - please do not do that! We might not want to realise it, but makeup has a shelf life. Our palettes are not immortal and they will eventually go bad. It's only a matter of time and that can be anywhere from three months to five years. The only thing we can know for certain is that it will go bad at some point.
So please, just use your favourite makeup. Stop hate-panning that palette that you hate and start using the ones you love. If you don't bring in any new makeup you'll use things up eventually anyway. So focus on using the things you love. You'll use the same amount of makeup no matter which products you reach for and I think we all prefer to focus on the ones we actually enjoy using. Save the non-favourites for when you've run out of your favourites.
