My Travel Beauty Bag

This is all the makeup and skin care I took with me when I went to visit my parents last week. I could fit everything but my deodorant and my dry shampoo in this small purse. My mission was to take as little as I could, but still make sure I could create a full face of makeup in case we decided to go out to eat or some other place where I had to look fancier. We didn't end up going anywhere fancy and I ended up not using any makeup at all for half a week so almost all of this was redundant. The deodorant was the only thing I actually used. It was quite eye-opening because this is nothing compared to what I usually bring with me and it was still more than I needed. I usually have one of these bags filled with makeup and another one with my skincare, but since I didn't have to bring any shampoo, a toothbrush or anything like that, since I have access to all those things at my parents' already, I challenged myself to fit everything in one bag. From now on this is going to be what I bring with me when I travel. I've finally realized there's no need for anything else.

Before I decided what to bring with me I asked myself a few questions: How long are you away for? Four days. Are you going to a particular event that requires a specific look or any gimmicky products? No, not even close. Would you need a setting spray to keep a full face on all night or are you only going to be out on shorter outings? There is no need for any setting spray or primer this trip. Would you need to put on a full face for an outing during the four days you are away? Possibly. Let's bring enough products to put on a full face, but lets make them as few as possible.

THE CHECKLIST

Makeup
  • A foundation, because I want to be able to cover up some of the redness on my face.
  • A concealer, because I want to be able to cover up my undereyes.
  • A product/shade I can use as both eyeshadow and bronzer.
  • A product/shade I can use as both eyeshadow and highlighter.
  • A mascara, because otherwise my lashes look nonexistent.
  • An eyeliner to easily turn a day look into a night look.
  • A lipstick that'll work for any occasion.
  • Possibly another eyeshadow shade to help me complete an eyelook.
 Skin care etc
  • Face wash.
  • Moisturizer with SPF.
  • Lip balm.
  • Deodorant.
  • A piece of my shampoo bar.
  • A piece of my conditioner bar.
  • A piece of my soap.
  • Toothpaste + toothbrush.

That is all I need to bring with me. I know myself and whenever I'm travelling I only do quick makeup looks before running out the door to explore the place I'm visiting. There is no need for me to fill half my bag with a 12-shade neutral palette, a 12-shade colourful palette and a face palette. I'm probably just going to swipe some bronzer on my eyes and call it a day. That's just the way I am. And when it comes to skin care I just suck at committing to it whenever I'm travelling. I just wash my face and do the absolute minimum. I'm probably just going to bring a moisturizer and possibly a serum form now on. Will, my face suffer a bit for it? Possibly, but I'm still going to prioritize lighter luggage. If you're not like me, that is fine and I'd love to hear what your travel staples are in the comments.
