Decluttering my social media
As a way to declutter an de-stress my life I decided to declutter my social media. Lately, I've been irritated at a lot of people I've followed for no good reason. It could be old colleagues from an old summer job, who I felt posted too many selfies, or an acquaintance of an acquaintance, who I met at a party once that I felt posted too much about a their apartment renovation.
Since following these people evidently didn't give me any joy and only brought up negative thoughts and bad behaviour on my part I just decided to unfollow a bunch of people. I used every minimalist's favourite technique. I asked myself if following this person gave me any joy. Did I actually care what this person shared with their audience on social media? Did seeing their posts bring me any joy whatsoever? As soon as I realised that I only followed a person because I felt obligated to, I hit the unfollow button. Everyone involved will be happier with that decision.
I recommend all my current and future readers do the same. If you catch yourself not feeling positive when you scroll through your Instagram. Hit those unfollow buttons right then and there.
